One way to know that your brand has got the firepower is when it becomes indistinguishable with the use of the product or service that the brand represents.

Here are some examples

1. Get me a Kleenex.

2. Can you Google it

3. Pick up some Pampers

4. Can you please xerox it for me..

5. Please Fedex it.

6. I am switching to an Apple.

What else can you think of?

I must say that the concept “strong” shold be cleared.. a strong brand can be stated as a first “recalled” but I think you would do better if it was the “prefered”… how many people do you knom whom buy “pampers” from UNILEVER?
The last statement (6) was the only one I can consider really a remark of a strong brand: switch to it… choose it…

Qtips!
Several years ago when I was new here, I was looking for ear buds (as we called in Bangalore) in a medical kit. some one asked me what I was looking for, so here is the conversation:
A: are you looking for something?
me: yes, for ear buds – i had seen ‘em here before
A: what?
me: ear buds

A: Oh! Qtips!!!
me: do you call it Qtips?
later I was at a store and noticed a brand “Qtips” :)

In India, we have almirah made of steel. People usually say ” keep this stuff in godrej” – Godrej is really a name of the company that manufactured metal storage almirah :)
