If there is one thing that you can do well when you are building a relationship, think about what you can do to make the other person (in the conversation) feel “good about himself or herself” at the end of your conversation. Lisa Kirk puts this brilliantly as she categorizes people into three types
“A gossip is one who talks to you about others; a bore is one who talks to you about himself; and a brilliant conversationalist is one who talks to you about yourself”
- Lisa Kirk

I had a wonderful quote from Buckminister Fuller just yesterday and I found this gem today.
Think about it in the context of your own life. What forces are you fighting today? Which of those forces can you use them for your own advantage?

“Don’t fight forces. Use them”
- Buckminister Fuller

I got (or stole, really) this one from an email from Terry at PSVillage. I am a big fan of Buckminister Fuller and his work. This simple quote from him is about focusing on WIIFT (What’s in it for them). I wish everyone followed a simple rule of keeping
WIIFT > WIIFM
Enjoy the quote

If I had just understood this quote and internalized it when I started my first company almost a decade ago, I would have had a more peaceful “first-time entrepreneur” experience.
Enjoy the quote and have a great week ahead!

This quote comes to me from V.V. Rangathan who serves as the chairman of Compassites India Pvt Ltd apart from many other interesting and exciting projects he is involved with.
I was fortunate to witness the amazing work of Sir. M. Visvesvarayya during my student days at Mysore. The dam that Sir MV supervised from concept to completion at Krishnarajasagar (KRS) near Mysore is supposed to have created the biggest reservoir in Asia at the time it was built.
The quote simply calls for excellence way beyond the bar set by the society. Again, a great perspective to start the new year with. Enjoy!

“To give real service, you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money”
- Sir M. Visvesvarayya

Sadhguru’s new year message is short and simple. It’s a great perspective to start the new year with. Here are some more good wishes to make your life spectacular in 2008

There is a common phrase used to describe some job candidates – “I don’t know whether he has 10 years of experience or 1 year of experience repeated 10 times”. It is just not how many years of experience you have that matters. “What” that experience was becomes important. Here is a quick quote that summarizes this brilliantly

Just assume that you agree with Bob’s definitions of success and significance. If you do, try and answer these questions:
1. What am I going after – success or significance?
2. Are you happy about it?
==========
“Success means using your knowledge and experience to satisfy yourself
Significance means using your knowledge and experience to change the lives of others”
– Bob Buford
