Quotes worth recording – Tim Sanders

By Rajesh Setty on Wed 11 Oct 2006, 9:17 PM - Leave Comment

I had an opportunity to spend time with Tim Sanders today which I cherish. As a bonus, I also got to listen to Tim giving a keynote to a spellbound audience this afternoon. It was fascinating. In the end Tim provided two tips (sort of takeaways) and one of them was just right on the money. It seems so obvious once you hear it. Without going into further details, here is that gem:

“If you want the title, please be willing to take the job that comes with it”
- Tim Sanders

“Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life”

Quotes worth recording – General Eisenhower

By Rajesh Setty on Mon 17 Jul 2006, 8:53 AM - 1 Comment

Just so that we don’t undermine the value of brilliant execution, I would say that “foundations for success are laid in planning rooms.” It is true for a software project, building a home, writing a book or creating an enterprise. Here is the original quote:

“Wars are won in the planning room, not on the battlefield”

- General Eisenhower

There are so many definitions to what is creativity. Sir Ken Robinson has a great one. The definition has two parts and both parts are important. It will be a gentle reminder to all of us creative folks to see if we are really creative :)

“Creativity is the process of having original ideas that have value”

- Sir Ken Robinson

Oh..you should not miss Sir Ken Robinson’s talk on the topic of creativity. Here is the link:
